Jeweils donnerstags von 18.00 bis 21.00 Uhr

Die Kurse finden in kleinen Gruppen statt und ermöglichen das regelmässige Arbeiten an eigenen Themen. Alle Einrichtungen der Werkstatt stehen zur Verfügung, ebenso eine umfangreiche technische Dokumentation, Arbeitsbeispiele und eine Sammlung an Fachliteratur.

International Artist's Books Summer Workshop 2011

Druckwerk is a printing studio in the Center of Basel, Switzerland. www.druckwerk.ch

Established in a former brewery, Druckwerk specializes in printing and producing artists' books, posters and multiples. It offers an inspiring ambiance to create individual projects with professional assistance.

This workshop is open to students and artists, limited to 9 Persons. Assistance can be given in English, French or German.

The goal of the workshop is the realization of a limited edition, in the form of a book, book-object, poster or map. Participants can propose concrete projects ahead of time, or develop a project during the week.

Projects can be made using the following techniques: Etching, Wood- and Linocut, Monotype, Typographic handsetting and Letterpress printing. The possibility also exists to bind books in a traditional or experimental way; a wide variety of materials (papers, cardboards, textiles) is available.

The workshop will run each day from 9 - 5, with an hour break for lunch; access to the studio is possible during the other hours of the day.
Different excursions in the evening are proposed, including the Swiss Museum for Typography and Printing http://www.papiermuseum.ch and other places in town.

Participation fee is $750 (including materials, inquiries welcome).

Two guest rooms and other lodging is available in the same building for participants. Cost fort he room is $300 (with shared kitchen). Great terrace and view of Basel, situated near to the Rhein river.

Marcel Göhring, Biography:

1965: Born in Basel
1991-1993: Study of printing techniques at the „ SFG Schule für Gestaltung“, Basel
1996: Cité des Arts, Paris
since 1994: Etablished the printing Atelier „druckwerk“, together with Florian Dammeyer. Realisation of a vast number of Lino-engraved books, posters and printed artworks, workshops and projects with artists and designers.
2001: Award „the most beautiful swiss books“
2009: Les recontres internationale de lure, France; presentation of „built icons“, a typographic project
